FNSB Businesses Very Small Quantity Generators (VSGQ) Waste

A generator (business) is a very small quantity generator in a calendar month if it generates less than 100 kilograms per month of hazardous waste, less than 1 kilogram per month of acute hazardous waste, and less than 100 kilograms per month of acute spill residue on soil. - CFR 40 262.

  • Nominal fee (fee schedule)
  • Maximum amount accepted is 220 pounds per month (approximately 26 gallons)

The following items are prohibited for disposal with regular trash:

  • Containers that hold over one gallon of liquids
  • Contaminated soil
  • Cooking oil and grease
  • Radioactive materials
  • Raw sewage
  • Septage and pathogenic waste
  • Untreated sewer sludge

Metal Containers

  • Must have one end cut-out prior to disposal
  • Larger than 500 gallons must be cut into sections no larger than a 500-gallon container
  • Pipes and other large objects exceeding 8 feet in length
  • Smoke detectors
  • Explosives, incendiaries, ammunition
  • Compressed gas cylinders
  • Thermostats with mercury
