FNSB Animal Control offers a voluntary microchip service on a daily basis.  The cost is 15.00 per microchip.  Call to schedule an appointment.

Trap Rentals

Cat traps are available to rent for a deposit of 50.00.

There is no rental fee for the first 14 days; after 14 days there is a rental fee of $4.00 per day.   Trap rentals may be extended upon request. Once the trap is returned, we calculate the daily rental fee and process the paperwork for a refund for the deposit. If the rental fee is more than the deposit, the renter must pay the balance at the time of the return.

We do not have dog traps for rent, however an Animal Control Officer may sponsor a trap and work with you to catch a wayward dog.  For help with a dog trap please call our Dispatch Line.907-459-1493.

Traps cannot be taken outside the borough and cannot be used to trap wildlife. There are also temperature restrictions as to when a trap can be rented or used.

Euthanasia and Cremation Services

22.16.020(B) An owner may surrender their animal for euthanasia.  Animal Control may evaluate the surrendered animal and either euthanize the animal or make the animal available for adoption.

Euthanasia services are offered free of charge on a daily basis by trained, skilled and loving technicians. We understand that pets are members of your family and making the decision to let go is a difficult one. If you wish to remain with your pet at the time of euthanasia, please contact a veterinary clinic.  We offer a humane euthanasia by injection for animals that are incurably ill, aged, badly injured, etc.  We do not euthanize healthy animals without behavior concerns at the owners request, but can suggest available alternatives.

To surrender your pet for euthanasia, fill out an owner surrender form, filling in your wishes and sign the form.  Having legible information and a signature will eliminate us having to hold the animal in stray status.

We have drop-off cages available for all animal intake. They are located inside the building and are open 24 hours a day.

Cremation services are offered on a daily bases.  Fill out a cremation form and use the cremation bin located on the back side of the building.  Unfortunately, we are unable to save pet remains. Please contact a local veterinary office for private cremation service.

Euthanasia services are free of charge to citizens of the Fairbanks North Star Borough.  Non-Borough residents are charged a fee of 30.00 dollars per animal.

Outreach

Through a variety of school-based programs, shelter tours, and community outreach, our team is proactively teaching about animal care, bite prevention, emergency preparedness, and much more.

These opportunities are available on a limited basis. Please contact us to discuss options.
